Giving Directions

Before you can give directions, you must first understand the question being asked. Following, is a list of questions commonly used when asking directions:
Excuse Me,
- How do I get to…?
- I’m looking for….
- How far is it to …?
- Can you tell me the way to…?
- I’m trying to find….
- Do you know where …?
- Is this the way to…?
- Where can I find…?
- Can you tell me where…?
- Where’s…?
After you understand the question, you can use the following expressions to give direction:
- Go straight until you come to ….., then, ……..
- Go along the …… until you come to, ……, then, ……
- Follow …. for about …. kilometers until you come to …., then …..
- Take the (first) turn on the left/right.
- Follow the (signs) to ……
- It’s right behind the ……
- It’s in front of …….
- Turn left/right at the ……..
when you get to …….
after you pass…….
before the ……. - You can’t miss it!
In order to give directions accurately, you should learn these positions:
